Welcome to the Three Forks Historical Center blog-site...
This center is a priceless museum tucked away in the hills of Eastern Kentucky's small town of Beattyville. Inside the new section of the museum is a Veteran's wing. This section has an impressive combination of memorabilia such as wartime posters and pictures, sabres, badges and a great selection of military uniforms. Each uniform has a name and story of the soldier who wore it and all the uniforms were donated by soldier family members– it really brings home the reality of war. The other sections of the museum are also as impressive as they showcase ancient Native American cultures, pioneering history of logging, railroad heritage, agriculture and oil boom history. The craftsmanship in the museum’s interior is masterful and was constructed by the least expected of workers, the inmates at the area prison.
A visit to the Three Forks Historical Center is well worth a stop and conversation with the local folks. Great place to visit to get a visual impression of the history of the region.
